It is heart wrenching to see the video of the grievously injured sub inspector clinging for his life. The Tamil Nadu police department should hang its head in shame. If they can not help one of their own in time, one would wonder their priority to work towards the safety of their fellow citizens.
Their mission statement "To work towards a safe, just, humane and progressive society" is overwhelmingly negated.
Every uniformed officer in the vicinity should be summarily dismissed along with the state ministers who were just making phone calls. Precious minutes were wasted while the injured was struggling on the road. They should have calmed him down and provided him with comfort until some help arrived.
The emergency response system is abysmal and it is high time to overhaul the system. An ambulance van which can not reach a victim within few minutes would turn out to be a hearse van.
The henious crime of attacking the victim is overshadowed by the acts of those who stood there and did nothing to help.
The entire episode makes one thing well loud and clear that there is no value for life in India.
